DOES ILLINOIS HAVE ELECTRIC CAR TAX INCENTIVES?

To help the world embrace alternative energy sources, the Federal government can offer rebates or other incentives when you buy an all-electric or hybrid vehicle. Additionally, some state governments have electric car incentives, so you may be able to get multiple discounts on your next electric car. 

 

ILLINOIS ELECTRIC VEHICLE REBATE PROGRAM?

Illinois residents that purchase a new or used all-electric vehicle from an Illinois licensed dealer will be eligible for an Illinois' Electric Vehicle Rebate in the amounts set forth below.

·         A $4,000 rebate for the purchase of an all-electric vehicle that is not an electric motorcycle.

·         A $1,500 rebate for the purchase of an all-electric motorcycle.

Purchasers must apply for the rebate during an open rebate cycle and within 90-days of vehicle purchase. Application forms will be available on this webpage during open rebate cycles.

 

A rebate application period is currently open.

Rebate applications are being accepted between November 1, 2022 and January 31, 2023.

The rebate application must be postmarked within 90 days of the vehicle purchase date AND the rebate application must be postmarked on or before the end of the rebate cycle, January 31, 2023.
